Battle of the Storms

Wed ,01/09/2004

Its been nearly a week now. Carbuncle and I have been preparing for our showdown with Ramuh. We traveled together to a tiny port town of Mhaura. There we met two more members of the Rhinostery from Windurst. Also their, were to young summoners.

We all awaited the coming day. It was rumored that Ramuh was weakened during Earthday. Carbuncle and I hoped to test this rumor and claim the guardian of lightning’s power. The clock struck midnight and one by one, we were each transported to the Cloister of Storms.

Ozone filled the air. A strange warms surrounded us and the hair on my arms stood on end. I approached the crystal. I reached out and touched the crystal and was instantly sucked within.

OH NO! What had I done. I cried desperately to escape the prison as I pulled in. The was a reason the officials from the Rhinostery had given me the Tuning Fork. It could be used to limit Ramuhs powers. The Ramuh here looked far more powerful than anything I had ever encountered. I pounded on the gate crystal behind me. Seconds later, I broke free of the Crystal and returned to the Cloister.

Still amazed that I had escaped unharmed, I struck the Tuning fork on the crystal. Again I was transported to the inside of the crystal. This time Ramuh felt weaker.

Carbuncle and I knew what to do. We used the same strategy we used on Ifrit. Ramuh had a few tricks we weren’t ready for. He paralyzed us both! My arms were in pain to move. I could see Carbuncle was struggling as well. We let loose!

I channeled my energy into Carbuncle. The now familiar light struck Ramuh, searing his hands and face. Ramuh countered with bolts of lightning. He then turned to me, swinging recklessly with his scythe. I evaded his swings. My sized proved an advantage as I moved down hill below the extent of his weapon. Meanwhile, Carbuncle attacked from behind.

I regained my energy and began channeling again. I knew this would do it. Carbuncle jumped into the air toward our foe. Ramuh swung at me. Even with my eyes closed, I could see the bright light, that radiated from Carbuncle. Ramuh had been defeated.

Ramuh now follows me.

I returned to Windurst. Rumors had been spreading. Before summoning magic had become prohibited in the small nation, the people had been in fear. After the war, he had been sighted less and less. Recently, he had been sighted again. The full moon fountain was said to be his home. Carbuncle has told me more. I was instructed to receive the blessing of each of the elemental guardians. Only then would I have a remote chance in taming Fenrir. I have set out on my mission. It will not be easy and it will require the help of those other than Carubuncle. I know it can be done.
