Out of the Frying-Pan into the Fire.

Sun ,22/08/2004

Today I returned to Kazham. Getting off the airship, the tropical heat rushed against my face. I was greated by the many Mithra that call the island home. I had traveled here many times in the past, but this time I had a job to do. The lord of fire was on this island and I had come to defeat him.

I walked the boardwalks of Kazham for some time. I tried to calm myself over what I knew was going to a difficult fight. I had previous faced Ifrit a number of times. He skill was well above mine. I had been training. I had grown stronger and gained experience. Carbuncle had grown stronger. We both knew what was going to happen today.

I prepared myself in front of the Windurst representatives. I could tell that they understood what I was going threw. A kind taru by the name of Ephemeral graced me with his protective spells. I showed Dodmos, the Mini tuning fork of fire that he had given to me before. He asked if I was ready. I nodded and took a deep breath.

I felt the rush as the warp spell transported me to the Cloister of Flames, deep within Ifrit’s Cauldron. The air here was dense and hard to breath. Brimstone filled the air and my solea were covered with suit. In the middle of the chamber was Ifrit’s Crystal. He was awaiting inside. Still clutching the tuning fork, I struck it on the crystal. The now familiar ringing echoed through the cavern as I was pulled within.

Inside the crystal it was much cooler. The empty space was still warmer than Shiva’s crystal had been, but it was nowhere as hot as the Cauldron.

Who interupts…
Was I dreaming..?
…an eternity?
…lost…
But enough…
Wager your life…
…provide me
…with…amusement.
Are you ready…?

I ran up the winding ramp to Ifrit. Once again I called upon the help of Carbuncle. We were more than ready for this. This fight was no longer for Ifrits amusement. I was here to claim his power.

Ifrit could tell we meant business and started by double punching Carbuncle. I heard a wimper. I distracted the guardian of fire while Carbuncle continued the attack. Ifrit seemed suprised by our determination. We held strong and kept fighting.

My Aquaviel faded and I knew I was in trouble. Carbuncle let loose with the Shining Light. Ifrit cried out in pain. He was angry now. The beast let out a roar and enveloped Carbuncle in flames. Carbuncle disappeared into the void. Ifrit turned towards me as he contined the onslaught. I called for Carbuncle, but all my calls were interuppted by burning punches.

I began to get dizzy as I blocked the blows with my body. I reached into my pouch and drank a potion. A few more punches, and another potion. I called for Carbuncle again. I had been heard and Carbuncle returned with renewed strenth. Another flash of light filled the void. Ifrit cried out in pain.

I joined Carbuncle in the attack on Ifrit. It was nearing the end and we knew we had him for sure. A few more strikes. Ifrit had been defeated.

I now command Ifrit.

I must say, this had been the most difficult fight to date. I now prepare myself for Ramuh. We have yet to cross paths and I do not know what tricks he has.

Battle in the Ice Crystal

Fri ,20/08/2004

I travelled to San d’Oria today. Again, two representives from Windurst were present. A few weeks before they had given me the Mini Tuning Fork of Ice. I showed them that I still had it.

I kind Elvaan by the name of Mikekirby cast a spell of protection on me to prepare me for the fight. A few moments later they warped me to Fei’Yin.

The air was cold in the chamber. I had been to Fei’Yin before on previous journeys. This time it felt different. My hands trembled as I tried to eat my Fishkabob. I walked up to the large crystal resonating in the center of the chamber and banged the tuning fork on it.

I was wisked away again, I travelled to NORG today. Two representives from Windurst were there. One seemed pretty banged up. They saw me in my summoner garb and knew I might have a chance. They passed me a Mini Tuning Fork of Water. A few moments later they warped me to dark chamber.

I was all wet! The water there was over my head! I rushed up to the large crystal in the center of the chamber and banged the tuning fork on it.

Again I was pulled to within the crystal. Shiva awaited me at the top of the floating debris. Carbuncle joined me and we begain fighting. Carbuncle begged for me to share my powers with him. The light blasted off Carbuncle, heaviliy damaging Shiva. Several seconds passed, Carbuncle was growing very weak. Another blast of light. Shiva was badly wounded now, and could tell I was getting tired.

I despartly drank my Hi-Potion while Carbuncle continued his onslaught. A few more strikes, Shiva fell.

…Impressive…
…time is neither
…an eternity.
…to bring order…

Shiva now follows me.

BCNM 30 – Creeping Doom

Fri ,13/08/2004

After a defeat on the BCNM battle on Wednesday night, we thought we would reconsider our roles in the mission. Lantrix, Kurokaze and myself all went and fought this battle. It was an unfortunate loss. Many things went wrong at the start which we could not prevent.

On our second try through this morning, it was much different. I have been training the last few days to be a BLM for this fight. We all arrived fully prepared and we turned the tables. We had the plan set, and we each took turns nuking casting Blizzard and Sleeping him. When we had a chance, we would Aspir for extra mp About 10 minutes into the fight he was out of mp and really low on life. The crawler had only gotten one Cure III off the whole fight. Lantrix gave the word, “Lets light him up”. With that, all three of us unleashed Firaga. He was no more.

The chest was very rewarding, but not what I had hoped for. We originally were there in seach of a Magician’s Earring. A nice Earring that gives +30 mp while subbing SMN. Instead I got some other nice stuff. 2 Spools of Silk Thread, a Song of Magic Finale, and two earrings. The earrings were a Healer’s Earring and Genin’s Earring. I have decided to keep the Healer’s Earring for my SMN. The extra enmity -1 may prove useful.

BLM Leveling

Wed ,11/08/2004

Today was great day. I spent all day in Yhoater Jungle lowering the population of Mandaragora. I joined a BLM powered party that spent the time nuking. It was very fun. Leveled from 25-30 for the BCNM battles.

More on that tommorow.

Leviathan

Tue ,10/08/2004

I travelled to NORG today.

I was wisked away again, this time to some place within the crystal. Leviathan was there. I called upon Carbuncle for help because I knew I couldn’t do this alone. It seemed like several minutes had passed and Carbuncle was taking a beating. Then in that weird voice, Carbuncle suggested we just unleash. I used the Astral Flow. So thats what happened. Two Searing Lights later, Leviathan was defeated.

He now follows me.

It was another one of those casual days. I went out to Qufim to visit my friend Donaldduck. I was greeted by him and and a few other. After a bit, we all started battling the roaming Pugil and Giants that torment the island.

It wasn’t the best group, but it was steady. My BLM leveled twice, which isn’t too bad. Thats good considering I saw death. One pugil didn’t seem to like me too much. With one nice attack he used the screwdriver on me. 290 HP lost. My max hp at the time was in the 320s. I had already been hit once. OUCH!

Well, I’m a 24 BLM, with half a level to go. Tractor and Aspir are waiting for that experience.

Raiders of the Temple of Uggalepih

Thu ,05/08/2004

So there I was. I had adventured through the harsh wilderness of Yhoator Jungle. The high grass was far above my head and the Coeurl looked hungry. I made my way into the Den of the Rancor. I had heard that there was a secret entrance to it and my source proved correct. I snuck though the Den very carefully. The lizards there didn’t look like they would attack me, but I had to be extra cautious. Finally, I made my way out, into the Temple of Uggaleih.

I was not at the back side of the temple. There were Tonberry everywhere, both tending to the temple and protecting it from invaders.. Me. I cast Invisible and Sneak upon myself and started traveling the halls. As soon as I entered the main hallway, I could smell the stench of rotten meat.

Following the smell, I reached a large door. There were several Tonberry roaming this section of the temple. I knew there was no way for me to open the heavy door while concentrating on staying invisible. After the last Tonberry trudged pass, I let down my invisible and opened the door.

Quickly, I ran into the room. Oh no there was a Tonberry in there. There behind him was an offering for their goodess Uggalepih. This is what I had been looking for. I grabbed the offering, ignoring the Tonberry who was angered just by the sight of me. I ran down the hall as fast as I could. The Tonberry laughed as it chased me, calling its friends for help. I ran down the steps to the Den. They had lost me.

I looked at my reward, a Tonberry Offering to Uggalepih. It smelled awful, but I knew it would be useful in retrieving my Carbuncle Mitts later.

New Staff

Wed ,04/08/2004

So the other day, Tobatobu and a few of my friends went and fought a bunch of angry orcs high in the peaks of Horlais. They weren’taru ready for our group. We had heard rumors of the small party of orcs living up there and had prepared for them.

When we first confronted them, Lantrix, put them to sleep. Daldek and Kailix then battled with a Paladin who had resisted the black mage spell. Alexeia, Kurokaze and myself offered our support to those engaged in combat. Slowly over time we defeated the group of six.

We soon found what they had been protecting. They had gathered a small chest of loot. Within it, was a pair of spectacles as well as some other trinkets. Lantrix, with his high intellect, believed we should sell it. He was soon able to sell the contents of the chest and make some decent money. We then split our new found earnings.

With my earnings, Tobatobu purchased a shiny new Light Staff. I am incredibly happy. I will now be able to heal my friend for more than I had been previously able to. I also have the feeling that my friend Carbuncle won’taru mind hanging around since I have such a cool staff.
